Dampers are the final control devices for almost all airflow in HVAC systems. Actuators are the interface between the control system and the mechanical system and are critical to accurate control. Damper Actuators is a device that controls the opening and closing of a damper in an HVAC or heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. Typically, 80% or more of direct digital control (DDC) outputs in the HVAC portion of the system go to actuators. If they are not positioned accurately, then all other portions of the air system suffer. Too often, the torque necessary to move a damper is the only selection criterion; accuracy is not an important issue. A controller cannot compensate for incorrect damper or actuator sizing.
